Praise The Lord!

Luke 19:37... And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;...

"For all the mighty works that they had seen;"...And look at all the mighty works that we have seen. The Lord Jesus went into the tomb, then defeated death and rose again. How much more should we be praising God for all the mighty things he has done for us? I don't think there is any way that we could praise him too much. One thing is for certain: there is no way that we can wrongly praise God...especially in His sanctuary...

Ist Peter, 2:9... But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

What a precious thing it is to be called out of darkness and into the light of the truth. There are too many billions of people in this old world who don't even know that yet. Many of those people are headed into an eternal horror. Those of us who have seen that light and received of God's mercy should be shouting his name to the rooftops...at the very least, displaying our everlasting gratitude by praising him with every means He has given us.

This month, the month of April, begins with the celebration of Easter. In celebration there is praise, but too many people have forgotten what the traditions of the celebration of Easter mean. Someone says "What does the egg have to do with Easter". For the answer to that question, ask yourselves what Easter commemorates. It recalls the return to "Life" of the crucified saviour...Hence, the egg was chosen to be a part of the celebration. The egg is a symbol of life. From the egg springs new life. It is simply a means of helping us to praise the Lord by reminding others, especially our little ones, of why we celebrate Easter. It's true that we have allowed the world to creep into even this most precious celebration, but if we intensify our praising the Lord and refuse to let the meaning of this time be lost to the lusts of the world's pleasures, we can also intensify the light that shines from those who praise Him, that they might be a lighthouse for God. ...And what are lighthouses for? To save those who cannot see the shoals of disaster...to help someone else be called out of the darkness so that they, too, can become a light.

But what about the rest of the days, when there is no Christian celebration to shine before men? How do we praise him then? Let's look at Luke 24:44...

44... And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me."

Let's look at some of these things which were written concerning Him which must be fulfilled...

Psalms 150:1 ...Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2... Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3... Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4... Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5... Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals
6.... Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

Those scriptures don' t leave much to the imagination, do they? What it boils down to is that we are to praise the Lord with every means possible to us. In that kind of praise, the light shines... and that is our whole task.

St. Matt. 5 :16... Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

"Praise ye the Lord."

In Jesus' Name,
AMEN
