We mourn the passing of the Catholic Pope, John Paul II. The Bible says, "By their fruits shall ye know them." I don't know of any bad fruits this man ever displayed, but I do know that he followed the Word of God as exactly as possible, and his good fruits were inumerable.
In these last days it is becoming increasingly difficult to find men who are devoted to the Word of God...the kind of men we desperately need.
We are living in a time that the entire world is being run by greed. The desire for more and more wealth is becoming the driving force all over the planet. I believe that is the reason that God considered it important to have Paul include the statement in: ( 1st Timothy 6:10) "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
The Lord, in that statement's preservation, was preparing us for the force which will ultimately be responsible, in large part, for the mark of the beast, and for many of the sorrows which will befall mankind...GREED!
Prices on everything are rising quickly and consistently, making it harder and harder for the average person to survive. Soon, the "One World Government" will come into existence; money will standardize. Then, with the advent of the Anti-Christ, the ability to buy or sell anything will depend on whether or not one belongs to his "World Church" or subscribes to his anti-Christ philosophy by accepting his mark. The "love of money" will have done it's part to lead us to this final situation.
It is apparent now to anyone that people's focus in this day, rather than being on God, is either on getting ahead, monetarily, of his neighbor, of simply earning enough to survive. The most important thing in people's lives is fast becoming money, one way or another. We forget, or just simply don't take the time to pray, or even to remember the Lord, who is, and always has been, the provider for his people and the caretaker of all who trust in him.
"IT IS BETTER TO TRUST IN THE LORD THAN TO PUT CONFIDENCE IN MAN."
STOP! Have you gotten so wrapped up in financial survival that you have neglected your relationship with the One upon whom you should be depending? Is worry about money causing you to allot more time to the cares of the world than to the pursuit of godliness? If so, then stop and look up and do your first works again.
We need to be more devoted to God, like Pope John Paul II was. We must place more importance on the things of God than on the things of the world. It matters not what denomination we are. Our denominations won't get us to heaven...it is the condition of our heart that really matters, for that will decide whether we serve God or mammon.
