Getting Answers

1 Peter 3:12... "For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil."

Are your prayers being answered? Are you seeing the results of your intercession on behalf of those who are mentally, physically or spiritually in need? If not, do you know what's wrong, or what is waylaying these prayers? Let's check the scriptures and see what is necessary to receive those answers we so desperately seek.

Consider, in the above passage, that it doesn't say "the face of the Lord is against them who ARE evil"... it says "them who DO evil". If, then, we are not getting those prayers answered we need to scrutinize our lives and our actions. ...Are we harboring grudges?...Are we refusing to forgive?... Are we subconsciously engaging in greedy activities? ...Are we not being honest in our activities? Have we become caught up in the cares of the world? ...All these things must be considered and corrected if we find any of them in our lives. Only by weighing ourselves in the balance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ can we be among those whom "...the eyes of the Lord are over..." and those for whom "..his ears are open to their prayers:..."

Matt. 7:21 ... "Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." In this passage we see the same admonishment: do the will of the Father. Anyone not doing so will not only miss heaven, but any answer that must come from there.

Then we must hold and display that one thing that does more to receive than any other human quality: faith. Remember, Jesus said to the woman who touched the hem of his garment... "Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole." The Book even tells us that in the one town, Jesus himself could not do many great things, because of their unbelief. Keep in mind that the only way to have such faith is to believe, and to follow the teachings and requirements of the Gospel of Jesus.

James 1:6-8 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7:... For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord. 8... A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Are you guilty of being double minded? Do you act one way in the presence of Christians then do an about-face when you are with others or when you think you're all alone? Do you go into the church, listen to the message, smile and compliment the minister then take on the cares and actions of the worldly as soon as you leave the area? That is being double minded. And That will stop you from receiving anything from the Lord.

If we will consider all these things, and be honest, single minded and obedient before the Lord, the we will receive those things for which we ask. The Holy Word of God promises it. And there are so many who are in dire spiritual and physical need that it is always our duty to do everything necessary to get prayers through to God on their behalf. God blesses... and answers... his own.

In Jesus' Name,
AMEN
