...Invisible Light...

When I was about 9 years old, in Southern West Virginia one cold, dark December night, I made a startling discovery. I was lying in bed looking out the window into the darkness when the snow began to fall. As I watched, I suddenly realized that, from the light of the window, I could see the snowflakes, each one separately, but I could see nothing in between them. I had discovered that light was invisible. As long as it has something to reflect off of, it is apparent. But if there is nothing for it to act upon, it is invisible...it cannot be seen.

Think about it for a while. It is the same with the light that is in us. If we don't let our light act upon someone or some thing, it cannot be seen. We may feel that we are full of that light, but it is invisible unless it is reflected by the things we allow it to shine upon.

Matthew 5:14... Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set upon a hill cannot be hid.
Matthew 5:16... Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Are you set upon a hill, or are you in a valley of shadows? Notice that Jesus said to let your light so shine before men that they may see your "good works". That is where your light can be seen... in your "good works"...in the Godly things you do for your fellow men and for the glory of the Father. The world cannot see our light if it is not allowed to be reflected in our deeds and our actions. The "do as I say, not as I do" outlook will draw no one to God, because the light cannot be seen in such an attitude. We can say the light is there all we want, but unless it is directed to the people and things we make contact with daily, it is invisible.

John, Chapter 1.....
Verse 4: In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5: And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

7: The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8: He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9: That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

The light that Jesus had was never invisible, because he projected it forth to all men. They saw his good and marvelous works, and in seeing that, they saw the light. We have to project the light we have forth from us, that it might be reflected in good works and Christian actions...in other words, so that it can be seen. Invisible light is worthless, but light that is allowed to shine upon others is eternally bright. Let's try to remember that and do,..not just say... the things that Jesus gave us to be light for a needful world.

Let your light so shine before men,...!

In Jesus' Name,
AMEN
