Abortion & the Book...
![]() |

Let us consider first the reference to the unborn in Romans 9: verses
10 and 11...
10: ...And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father
Isaac;
Our purpose in presenting these two verses out of context is to draw attention to the manner in
which "conception" is linked to "children". Note that in verse 10
it says..."when Rebecca also had conceived"... then, in verse 11
it refers to the "children being not yet born,..." In other words, according to these scriptures, at conception, we have
children, born or unborn. Verse 11 then confirms this conclusion by the phrase,
"...neither having done any good or evil...",which stipulates that they were
heretofore unexposed to the world...innocent in the womb.
It is extremely important to note here that God had already "chosen" these children,
("..the purpose of God according to election...") even at conception. He had
"called" them to serve his purpose. Can we find other scripture to support this conclusion? I believe we can.
Let's see what our unchanging God said concerning this in Jeremiah, Chapter 1, Verse 5.
Verse 5... Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of
the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
"Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee;..." Here is a scripture that is not open to
interpretation; it is blunt and to the point. And the rest of the scripture is the same: "...before thou camest forth out of the womb
I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee..."This is what the Lord God said to Jeremiah. We cannot see anything here that we can
interpret in any other way except that we are in God's care from conception on. Again, in...
So what does the Book say about God's attitude toward children? It is written in the Book of Matthew,
Chapter 18, Verse 10...
10: Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven
their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
Then again, a little further on, in verse 14...
14: Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones
should perish.
Please note that is not our purpose here to condemn, but to help. The collection of scriptures
presented here, if read as written, absolutely answer the questions concerning the beginning of life and the way the Lord God looks
upon it. They all support one firm conclusion: Life is meaningful, important, and precious to God from conception forward.
Scriptures on pre-birth knowledge of us by God: Job 31:15... Hebrews 7:9 & 10... Psalms 139:13
    11: ... (For the children,
being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works,
but of him that calleth;)
Psalms 139:13:...For thou hast possessed my reins: Thou hast covered me
in my mother's womb.)
we see that we are under God's loving care while we are still in the mother's womb.
In any case, we have presented only some of the existing scriptures which are found in the Bible concerning life from
even before conception. We cannot change what is written. It is up to us whether or not we want to be in the will of God in this
situation. The scriptures are not the only guidelines, but they are God's guidelines, and will determine our relations with Him.
